Born in Mexico City, Romano grew up in Cuernavaca. Her family moved to Cuba during the pre-Castro era. Havana was the home of her Sicilian-French multi-lingual father. Her Spanish-Jewish mother was from Taos and her family has lived in the region since the mid-1700’s. Romano currently resides and works in Taos, New Mexico.
